Bane

Interview with the Immortal: Bane

**Location: undisclosed

Interviewer: Dee Dee

Dee Dee: Hello, Bane, and thank you for this unique opportunity to learn about your life.

Bane: Welcome, Dee Dee. It's rare for me to recount my tale. Please, ask away.

Dee Dee: You've lived since just after the crucifixion of Christ. Can you tell us about your beginnings?

Bane: I was born in the shadow of that event, in a small settlement near Jerusalem. My life was ordinary until my transformation.

Dee Dee: How did you become what you are now, a vampire?

Bane: It was during a night of betrayal. Left for dead on a battlefield, as I lay there, a mist rolled in, unnaturally thick. From it emerged a spirit, ethereal and silent. It kissed me, and with that kiss came the change, the thirst, the endless life.

Dee Dee: You're known for your captivating appearance. Can you describe yourself?

Bane: (smiles faintly) My appearance has been both a gift and a curse. I am as I was in my youth, strong, with what some might call an allure. But this eternal youth is a reminder of what I've lost.

Dee Dee: What powers did this transformation grant you?

Bane: Beyond the physical enhancements, I possess the ability to sway minds, though I use this with restraint. I heal rapidly, and while the sun weakens me, it does not end me. My greatest power might be my resilience against time.

Dee Dee: Over centuries, you must have had numerous experiences, relationships. Could you share some?

Bane: Indeed, life has been long. I've loved, and each love has been a star in my night sky, bright but eventually fading. Friends, like the immortal Alaric, have come and gone. Each relationship teaches me the value of the moment.

Dee Dee: How do you balance the light and dark within you?

Bane: It's an eternal dance. The need for blood is my darkness, yet I strive to find light in protecting others, in small acts of kindness, seeking some form of redemption.

Dee Dee: Have you ever considered ending your immortality?

Bane: In moments of deep solitude, yes. But there's always something—a new era, a new soul—that calls me to stay, to watch over the tapestry of time.

Dee Dee: What's your take on how vampires are depicted today?

Bane: It's entertaining, if not entirely accurate. There's a romanticism that wasn't there in my early years. But it does make my existence... less isolating, to see others fascinated by what I am.

Dee Dee: What wisdom would you share about immortality?

Bane: Immortality teaches you the true value of life's ephemerality. If you dream of living forever, know that it means watching the world change while you remain the same. Cherish the now, for it's the only moment you truly have.

Dee Dee: Bane, throughout your extensive life, which era has captured your heart the most?

Bane: Ah, the Renaissance, Dee Dee. A time when art, science, and thought flourished like never before. It was as if humanity awoke from a long slumber, eager to question, create, and explore. That vibrancy, the sheer audacity of human spirit, it resonated with me.

Dee Dee: Given your perspective on time, what are your thoughts on the concept of the end times, as described in Revelation?

Bane: (reflects for a moment) I've seen countless predictions of the end, each era believing its own demise was imminent. Revelation, to me, symbolizes humanity's eternal dance with fear and hope. It's less about a literal end and more about the cycles of renewal and destruction that define human history.

Dee Dee: A more mundane question perhaps, but do you eat regular food?

Bane: Blood sustains me, but yes, I can partake in human food and drink for pleasure or to maintain appearances. It offers no nourishment, but the taste can be a nostalgic reminder of my human life.

Dee Dee: In today's world, what activities do you find yourself drawn to?

Bane: I immerse myself in the arts; I've become quite the collector. Travel, too, for the world changes ever so swiftly now. I engage with technology, fascinated by humanity's leap into the digital age. And at times, I influence from the shadows, guiding where I can, learning where I must.

Dee Dee: And financially, how do you manage in the modern era?

Bane: Wealth accumulates over centuries if one is wise. I've invested in ventures that span from ancient trade routes to modern tech startups. Artifacts from my time, now antiques, fetch fortunes. And I run several businesses, primarily those that thrive under the cover of night or through the digital realm, where my... condition is less of an impediment.

Dee Dee: Thank you, Bane, for this glimpse into your timeless existence. It's truly fascinating how you navigate through the ages.

Bane: It's my pleasure, Dee Dee. Remember, every era has its beauty, its darkness. It's all about finding your place within it, however fleeting or enduring that might be.
